Andrew C. Hanko

On Saturday, May 19, 2018 of New Carrollton, MD. Andy, the last surviving of nine children to Andrew and Susan (Dragonosky) was born in Edwardsville, PA on June 23, 1930. Beloved husband of the late Irene Hanko; father of Andrea Heel (Ingo), Andrew J. Hanko (Carol), Mary Sullivan, Elaine Greene (Chip), Janet Klotz (William) and Michael Hanko (Trish).  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Andy served in the US Navy, was a member of IBEW 26, active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, was Mayor of New Carrollton for the past 34 years, Councilman for 14 years and Past President of MML. Friends will be received at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Highway (Route 3 South), Bowie, MD on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 7301 Annapolis Road, Landover Hills, MD on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10:00 am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MML Foundation (Scholarship Fund), 1212 West Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.
