Charles Porter Amazeen

Charles Porter Amazeen Jr., “Chuck,” passed away peacefully, in his home on May 31, 2020 in Bowie, Maryland. Private family funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery followed by a celebration of life. The date of the celebration of life will be communicated at a later date.

Chuck was born in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey to Penelope and Charles Amazeen on September 9, 1934. He went to school at Kemper Military School in Boonville, Missouri and San Jose State College in San Jose, California. 
 
He married Gretchen Riggs Amazeen on December 7, 1990 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Chuck worked for the Department of Energy as a contractor for over 29 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army for 20 years. He was awarded the Bronze Star and retired a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Crownsville, Maryland.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen Riggs Amazeen, Charles, Michael, and Stephen Amazeen, Donovan Zadnicheck, Dalton Dawkins, and Jeannell Thomas, and 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
