Helen Louise Fox was born on June 25, 1946 in Washington, D. C.  She was the daughter of the of Mr. & Mrs. James Fox. The family moved to Middleton Lane in Bethesda, Maryland before she started school. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes School through the eighth grade and graduated from Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Geography and a second BS in Astro Physics from the University of Michigan.  From there earned a Doctorate in fluvial geomorphology at John’s Hopkins University. She went to work for USDA, National Resource Conservation Service in 1975 as a hydrologist in College Park, Maryland.  She worked for the agency in several locations until she retired in 2016.

In 1976, she met Edwin Moody, we were married on January 24, 1978, thus she became Helen Fox Moody.  We setup housekeeping in Adelphi, Maryland, then moved to Glenn Dale in 1994. She has one son, Seamus A. Moody who teaches at Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, VA. She enjoyed reading, mysteries and fantasy.  She was a big fan of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies.

She raised Zebra Finches, having as many as 500 of them in an aviary in the pack yard.  Her father was a falconer and he passed the love of birds on to her.  He even had her raise and train a kestrel. She also loved butterflies.  Everything I planted in the yard had to attract butterflies and birds. She loved dogs.  We have had as many as five dogs at one time.  Many of these dogs were therapy dogs that visited rest homes, schools, and hospitals. She also enjoyed jigsaw and find the hidden word puzzles and Scrabble games.  She was addicted to solitaire on the computer.

She is survived by our son Seamus and his wife Megan, her brother Bill Fox and his wife Marge of Chester, VA and their children Peggy, Patty, Chris and their families.
