Mable I. Hamilton

June 15, 1923 — January 18, 2022

Mable I. Hamilton was born in Mitchellville, Maryland on June 15,1923, to William and Ella Fletcher. Mable had 5 siblings: William, John Edward (Ed), Rosie, Katie, and Margaret.

Mable Hamilton went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. She passed away peacefully at home.

Mable Hamilton (Fletcher) was the wife of Francis Hamilton (deceased) for over 60 years and mother to three beautiful daughters: Mary Perkins, Frances Brooks, and Dorothy Holley (deceased).

Mable was the grandmother to nine Grandchildren: Rondall Holley (Janet), Casandra Watkins, Orlando Holley, Jeffrey Perkins, Cheryl Clarke (Robert), Patreda Perkins, Lisa Brooks, Torrance Holley, and Nathan Perkins Jr. (Damion).

Mable is survived by 29 Great-Grandchildren and 26 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Mable was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, auntie, and friend. She hosted numerous Sunday family dinners, family celebrations and holiday gatherings. Mable never forgot a birthday and made each family member feel valued on their special day!

Mable lived a very active lifestyle. She drove well into her 90’s, visiting friends and family, and getting her “hair done” at the senior living community salon. At Saint Paul’s Senior living complex, you could find Mable power walking with friends, attending events, and hosting annual family Christmas gatherings with as many as 50 in attendance.

Mable moved to her granddaughter’s home in 2019 and continued her happy lifestyle with her loving caregivers – daughter and granddaughters until she peacefully transitioned to heaven.

Mable shared, cared, and supported her family with unconditional love, kindness, and compassion. She imparted wisdom and sometimes didn’t hesitate to do so with a spicy delivery.

Mable was a devout Catholic and member of the Holy Family Catholic Church since childhood.  She prayed for the family and taught each generation to pray, to be grateful, and to be generous. Four generations learned from Mable that all blessings flow from God and success is not demonstrated by what you possess but rather by the love that surrounds you. Mable was indeed surrounded by love as evidenced by the immeasurable devotion throughout her life from family and friends.

Mable taught her family that we must trust and love God, love ourselves, and love and care for others unconditionally. She touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed. Mable instructed her family to not worry or be sad when she passed away as she had lived a long and happy life. Our earthly angel is now our heavenly angel.
