Sydney Kabobre Ayine

January 6, 1983 — October 13, 2020

On 6th Jan. 1983, in Tamale Ghana, Gabriel and Gabriella were blessed with a cute smiley boy who they named Sydney. At age 5, Sydney started elementary at Thomas Wood preparatory school in Madina, Ghana. In August of 1997, Sydney and the mother migrated to the United state to be with the dad who was then a doctorate student at Howard university and an instructor at Howard Community College, Maryland.

Sydney attended Western school of Technology in Baltimore county, Maryland. Upon graduation, Sydney attended Howard Community College and then University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) where he studied Information Systems. He went on to George Washington University (GWU) to further his education. At GWU, he pursued and obtained a graduate certificate in Survey Design and Data Analysis.

Sydney worked at ICF a global consulting research company in Fairfax, Virginia. At ICF he worked on several research projects for ICF’s clients including the US Military. His major achievement at ICF was taking a leadership role in the review of a Survey Software Evaluation project for the US Military, which was published in ARI Research Note 2010-05.

Next, Sydney joined the US Census Bureau in 2012 as a statistician, a post he held until his untimely death.

Sydney was an avid soccer fan, he was always with smiles when his favorite team, Chelsea, won a match. He also liked e-sports, joining his friends to organize competitions.

Sydney, showed remarkable love for his parents, helping his dad with tech issues related to his teaching job. He encouraged him to be physically fit with a fitbit fitness device he got for him as a Happy Father’s Day gift. He opted to work two days a week from home to provide nursing care to his ailing mom. His premature departure is a tremendous loss to the family.

Sydney, from his childhood to adulthood, won the hearts of all who met him. He got the nick name Smiley because you will always find him smiling. He was always willing to help people whenever and wherever he could.

Sydney departure has a left a void in the family, a void that will be impossible to fill. We will always miss him, his smiles, his laughter, and love. Sydney, rest in peace with your Maker, and prepare a place for us.
